Where can I find class schedules and pricing?
Click on the “SHOP & SCHEDULE” button or simply click here. This will take you to the scheduling and pricing section of our website through the Mind Body booking portal where you can read more about the class descriptions and different packages available. You do not need to create an account to view. An account is only needed to book a class and is easy to create with a quick link to Facebook or by filling out the Registration Form.
Do I have to get in the water? What do I wear?
Get in the water? Oh, my goodness, NOOOOOO!! Trust us, getting in a bathing suit is a very serious business as it is, much less post-baby! DO come dressed for comfort as you will be leaning over a tub playing with your water baby and sitting on the mat while giving your baby a massage. Make-up is completely optional and often skipped altogether. Come as you are!
What do I need to bring to my appointment?
We provide sanitized warm towels and swim diapers. Your baby may be very hungry during or near the end of the session. Please plan for this whether you are nursing or using bottles. We are a breastfeeding friendly facility and have a bottle warmer for your convenience. If your baby uses a pacifier, please be sure to pack that as well. Sometimes our little friends enjoy using them while floating.
How long does each session last?
Approximately 1 hour.
Can I bring a guest?
Yes! We encourage you to bring your spouse, a family member, or a friend. Because our space is small and we like to keep a calm environment for the babies, we ask that you limit it to TWO (2) adult guests per baby (twins please limit to a total of 2 guests also) only.
Are my other children allowed to come and watch?
Private sessions may be scheduled if siblings would like to attend, (or if your entire extended family is in town and wants to tag along!) This allows you the opportunity to teach your older child/children how to massage the baby’s feet in a one on one setting. Group sessions do not allow for older children to attend. You will be asked to reschedule your appointment without an account credit if one of your guests is under 12 years of age. Read more of the Rules here.
How many babies are in one class at a time?
We limit our classes to 3 babies (exception: families with twins count as “1”). This allows us to maintain a serene environment for the babies and gives the parents an intimate setting to share tips, tricks and tribulations.
Will my baby float with other babies?
No. Individual tubs are sanitized after each baby, which is especially ideal for younger babies still needing immunizations.
What if my baby wakes up sick on the day of our Float Baby session?
We want you AND your baby to be well during a visit. Our cancellation policy is 6 hours in advance. We understand that babies (or mommies) may wake up under the weather, however late cancelations prevent others from being able to participate. In the case of a late cancellation, rescheduling, refunds and credits will not be given. Early cancellations will receive an account credit to reschedule at a later date.
What’s the age limit and how often do you recommend attending?
We want to see your baby AT LEAST once per week (some parents come twice), as soon as the umbilical cord has fallen off. If you have been bringing your baby on a regular basis, you will be able to successfully stay in the program until your baby is at least 6 months and possibly beyond. We will let you know when your baby is getting close to graduating. You may NOT begin the program if your baby is beyond 6 months of age without prior approval. We do have clients who are older than 6 months but we prefer to speak with you in advance to ensure your visit is enjoyable for both you and your baby. To gain the full benefits of brain, physical and emotional development, it is very important that you routinely attend. Float Babies can hit their milestones by as much as 50% ahead of non-water babies so attendance is crucial for results.
My baby hasn’t been born yet. How far in advance should I schedule?
We recommend that you book now, setting your appointment for one month beyond your due date. This will ensure that you have reserved your space and it can always be moved accordingly after your baby has arrived.
What should I expect after a session?
Eating, Sleeping, Poo-ing! These are the top 3 results that mommies experience and report back to us. Most babies are very hungry after floating. There is time for you to feed your baby between water and massage. This allows your baby to leave relaxed and ready for the next nap time. Many report that bowel movements are achieved with our tummy massage instruction and are happy to relieve this discomfort for their babies. Additionally, babies may sleep 3-5 hours the afternoon of a Float and very well that evening.
Do you sell the floatation devices?
We do not…Even if you live outside of Houston or the US! Our floatation devices are sized by our staff during each session to safely fit your growing baby. Babies usually start with our preemie size and graduate out of our large size. We feel strongly about the safest fit possible and for this reason we only allow for the Float Baby device to be used in our stores under direct Float Baby staff supervision.
Can I give my unused package/classes to a friend?
No. We encourage you to only purchase a package if you intend to come regularly before your baby turns 6 months of age. Single sessions are best purchased by those who are unsure about scheduling conflicts, upcoming travel plans, etc. To keep things fair for everyone we will be strict on this policy.
